Save The Date: April 5th Moonlight Knights Gala

2019 MLK Save The Date

WHAT: The EP Scarlett Music Program’s largest fundraiser of the year: the 39thAnnual Moonlight Knights Gala at EP Scarlett.

WHEN: Friday April 5th, 2019

WHY:  Funds raised from the Gala are used to help keep the cost of the Program manageable for families—examples include offsetting the cost of clinicians, subsiding concert venue rental fees, and purchasing instruments.  This event typically raises between $14,000 to $18,000 every year.  As the proceeds from this Gala benefit all Music Program students, all families are expected to assist in some way.

The Organizing Committee would love to have one or two more parents to join them—help is primarily needed in the few days leading up to the Gala, purchasing supplies and delivering said supplies to the school.  Please sir/madam, can you spare some time?  Let the MLK Organizing Committee know by e-mailing info@epsmpa.com.

THE GALA EXPERIENCE: The Gala is a great night of music, dancing and silent auctioning, and is a highlight of the year for Music Program students.  Guests will enjoy a dinner catered by An Affair To Remember while being serenaded with performances from the Concert and Symphonic bands and the Choir.  After dinner, the floor is cleared and the Jazz bands provide the music for the dance.  Once your feet get tired from the dancing, scout out some deals with a trip to the Silent Auction hallway, where you are sure to find gift baskets filled with goodies, event passes, concert tickets and much more to bid on.  And what event would be complete without some photos? Gather a group and take some pictures at the photo booth to commemorate your evening.

How Families And Students Will Be Asked To Help

  • Provide a item for the Silent Auction. Popular items from past Galas have been hand crafted items such as blankets and woodwork pieces, original art work, tickets to concerts or sporting events, gift cards, vouchers for a stay at a time share, wine baskets, cookware, luggage pieces, etc, but any new item is gratefully accepted.  Corporate donations are also welcome; letters requesting a donation from an employer will be available for download from epscarlettmusic.com in early February.
  • For students, canvass your local businesses for Silent Auction donations.
Starting in mid-February, students will be asked to form groups of 4 to 6 and pick an area in southwest Calgary to canvass.  Maps, instructions, and letters from Mr. Bell and Mr. Brown will be provided to each student group to help them with this task.   The canvassing done by the students has historically been one of the biggest factors in the overall success of the Gala, so way to go, youth!
  • Purchase tickets for the Gala and ask your family and friends to join you. Tickets will go on sale from February 19th to March 25th, and will be available for purchase with credit card or e-transfer at epscarlettmusic.com.
Early bird ticket prices will be $47, regular price of $50, or purchase an entire table of 8 for $360 ($45 per seat).
  • Provide an item for the student snack table, and/or volunteer to assist at the event. A snack table will be set-up for Music Program students in the cafeteria for the night of the Gala.  We will also need volunteers to help with set-up of the gym and Silent Auction on the afternoon of the event, as well as help on the night of the event with Silent Auction payments and clean-up.  Online sign-up to provide snack items and/or set-up and clean-up help will begin in mid-February.

Thank you for your support of this event, and do not hesitate to contact the Organizing Committee at info@epsmpa.com with any questions or concerns.
