Free Passes For Spot On Santa’s “Nice” List

We know it’s early in the season, but we’re hoping the Spirit of Giving is beginning to infiltrate your heart, because there’s a need for the gift of your time.

First up, the Choir’s “Big Sing” event on the 16th: we are in need of 3 volunteers to assist with this event, and so far we have…

[pauses, checks sign-up sheet]

…none.  The sound you just heard was a gasp of alarm from Mr. Bell and the choir students, as they know that without the required number of chaperones, this event will be cancelled.

Volunteers need to be at the school for 7:30 am to accompany the students down to the Arts Commons; click here for the Big Sing Schedule.  Perhaps you only have a few hours to spare-we’d be happy to have them!  We will do our best to accommodate the time that you have to give.  You must have CBE Security Clearance on file at EP Scarlett in order to volunteer for this event.

Your second opportunity for a transfer from Naughty to Nice comes from the the Calgary Association for the Development of Music Education (snappily known as “CADME”), by helping with their December 17th and 18th fundraising casino at Cowboys.

“But Blog”, you say, “I’ve never heard of CADME before and I don’t know what they do.  Why are they so important to EP Scarlett?”

Take it away, Mr. Bell!

CADME has supported us (and others) in spades since its inception in 2003. Its mandate is to enhance music education programs in schools. Over the years, CADME has brought in and exposed local music students to such musical groups as Mnozil Brass, The Vanguard Jazz Orchestra (the former Mel Lewis/Thad Jones Big Band), the iconic Count Basie Orchestra (slated for April 12, 2018). For many years, CADME single handily made our Jazz Workshops a reality. Many of the instruments which students use on a daily basis here at Scarlett are also the result of CADME grants.”

CADME currently has a need for volunteers to fill the shifts below.  If you’ve never worked a Casino before, let us reassure you: it’s much less tiring than putting a snow suit on a toddler, and way easier (and less painful) than brushing your cat’s teeth.

To become a hero to humanity and make the EP Scarlett Music Program proud, please contact CADME at info@CADME.ca, or Mr. Bell at jibell@cbe.ab.ca.
